You can imagine...

You can probably imagine that after printing those wedding announcements I was ready to step back from the press and take a long vacation!
Well It finally happened!(in October... just a few months later!)
We took a road trip to San Francisco! It was a much needed vacation with all the recent events of this past year. It was such a good trip! We did have an ulterior motive to go.
The Guild of Bookworkers conference was being held there the end of the month and we registered to go. It was great to go for a little extra time before the conference and just explore! We did so much the first day we were really tired the second day! Being there a full week before the conference really allowed us to take our time! We feel like we saw a lot more of the city than we would have in just two or three days! We were so lucky to stay at my Great Uncle Ed's and we enjoyed visiting with him and his Lady friend Betsy. San Francisco is such an interesting place. There are so many things to see... so many people to watch... and so many things to be inspired by!
I really think that there is something magical about that city!
I will post some of my favorite pics from the trip!

Wow what a slacker!... okay not really!

I haven't been slacking! I promise! Just working a lot and tending to my garden! I still haven't taken good pics of the wedding announcements I did back in May. Here is another pic from mikes cell phone... sorry not the best quality! I also have been working on packaging up some cards that I printed not too long ago! So I will be taking pics of those as well! I tried to take some with the little point & shoot camera that we have and it just stinks! So as soon as I have access to my good camera it will have to wait!

Letterpress Woes!

I am printing a wedding announcement for my friend Mandi Wilding... we'll see if she is my friend after the fact! We have had so many issues with the press that I dont know how much more we can handle! My husband Michael is just about ready to take a sledge hammer to the vandercook!
Its not all the presses fault though! At first it was the plates and then we realized that it needed a little maintenance, and now since we messed with the rollers so much the other night we are having a hard time getting those squared up and ready so we can print. In the meantime we have used a lot of paper and time just trying to get it done. We were supposed to have the project ready and done last friday or saturday! Oh boy!  Here are some pics of the announcement design and envelopes that we were able to print. And I was just informed that Michael has beaten the beast! (not with a braun but with his brains!!! I love you Michael!!!)

Not much printing going on HERE!

Here are the chicks at about one week old!
Aren't they cute!
This one doesn't have a name yet...
Michael keeps calling her chicken Nugget!
"Kun Pao" is peeking out behind her!

Here is Kitty, Socks, or Booger...
I've started to call him Snoogie too!
What name do you like?

So I am not doing so good about show casing my art! I have been using this blog as more of a update on our family(small though it is). Any way! My goal this christmas was to do a christmas card(which failed miserably) and I was going to mention a new blog that you could keep up with us there, I thought that it was a good idea! But again I slacked and christmas came and went... I promise I thought about the card... I cut out the paper and began making a plate for it... it just didn't happen! So here I am with some more silly pictures of my family the chickens and the kitty. We named the cat Socks but he really just gets called booger 'cause he can be one! And the chickens have names... well some of them, so far there is Tiny spicy(she's the runt), and Kun pao(she's the fiesty one!!) We have one that is kind of a gold or orange and black... I'd like to call her Dottie! Any way I will take more pictures of art... I promise!
